Brodie Cambourne is experienced in working with participants who suffer from PTSD, anxiety and depression and understands the need for individual approaches to activities for each client.
Exercise program design for mental health issues may include outdoor activities such as Blue Therapy ( water based such as Stand Up Boarding or Kayaking) or Green Therapy (outdoor based). Clients are also invited to use our gym and programs are designed in collaboration with psychologists and mental health support to slowly introduce progressive exposure to group exercise using gym based rehabilitation or outdoor programs, Clients are also linked with online exercise support and monitored via these programs if they chose to exercise independently Read more |
BrainFit provides exercise advice and programming for musculo-skeletal conditions and injury including cerebral palsy, stroke rehabilitation, gait training and Work Cover injury
We provide exercise advice specific to musculo-skeletal conditions and injuries including rehabilitation post-surgery. Our exercise programs aim to address the mechanical component of injury, retrain functional movement and posture. BrainFit programs also provide education on functional movement so as to assist clients to learn mindfulness with movement to prevent recurrence of injury. Exercise programs for falls prevention can be fun and engaging for all ages and our BrainFit programs attempt to bring some fun back into balance exercises.
We provide home based programs as well as invite participants to attend our fun Falls Prevention classes. Our programs take into account your past injuries, illnesses and also attempt to reduce anxiety around balance exercises. We also explain the importance of maintaining balance for safe gait and walking. Our classes are designed to increase your confidence in continuing participation in physical activities and introduce you to exercise that improve your posture . Our aquatic rehabilitation program consists of supervised and programmed non supervised exercises performed in the water.
We use the various aquatic centres around the Shoalhaven which offer wheelchair access and heated pool options Swimming is not a prerequisite skill for our small pool sessions . Patients can perform each exercise while standing in the water, holding onto the side of the pool, or using a flotation device. The water provides a safe and effective method for healing injuries, restoring patient confidence, and increasing mobility with each completed exercise. Read more |
Fiteracy Community Health Education Workshops
Fiteracy workshops assist community members with engaging in health information and becoming confident learners of health topics. These sessions focus on the importance of daily movement for all ages and using exercise and lifestyle changes. These workshops involve guest speakers from a number of venues and disciplines. Wooden Eye Stand Up Paddling is not only a great core strength exercise that can assist with improving posture and balance.
It is also a great way to increase your vitamin D and a wonderful exercise for assisting with mindfulness and relaxation for clients who may be living with high stress , PTSD and anxiety. Wooden Eye Paddling is an Accredited Stand up Paddling School through Australian Surf Instructors and offers stand up paddling groups and kayaking groups . SUP and Kayaking is a great Blue Therapy activity and are used to assist with introducing clients to small group exercise programs without being stuck in a small room. |
Within the 2019 NDIS Support Catalogue, Exercise Physiology is now included in the Improved Daily Living Skills Category in addition to the Improved Health and Wellbeing Category, creating more opportunity for choice and control for NDIS participants.

There are many online systems and programs that can be used to support your journey into health and fitness.
Many of these apps are cost free and very useful to assist with maintaining motivation. BrainFit programs have a focus on clients/ patients with”health literacy” and will assist you with learning which phone, computer or online app may be suitable for you to measure your progress and set goals. Many of these programs allow your Exercise Physiologist to connect with you online and to monitor your progress through your chosen program. If you have a tablet, smart phone or computer, your exercise physiologist will set up an online program for you to receive your program online each day. This also enables you to provide daily feedback regarding your progress, pain and to determine if you are ready to progress to another level of exercises |
